Today, as planned, we played Olympos.
A game of conquest in ancient Greece, set against a backdrop of prestige and angry gods. :)
This time, I didn't explain all the rules at once. We started the game, and I gave advice to each player at the beginning of each turn.
At the start of the game, I clearly explained that the most distant islands, Atlantis, were worth more points at the end. And this time, Nguyen was the only one who really listened to me. Usually, it's the other way around; he's the only one who doesn't listen. :)
It's a game where you can move a troop any distance you want by paying a time cost, and the player furthest along the time track takes the next turn. So, Nguyen has a very long movement right from the first turn to reach a distant island. He didn't play for a while, but then he managed to deploy an entire kingdom in a very valuable area. Kiet and Xoai played very well, but Nguyen really had a big lead. He won hands down. :)
Kiet was really unlucky, because he was the player with the fewest Zeus points, so every time the gods were angry, they attacked him. He suffered several calamities like that at the beginning of the game.
The game is actually quite fast; we were able to play a game of Jungle Speed, and Nguyen won again. It was his day.
Next time, we'll play another game of Northgard. I don't know why it didn't motivate them more. Except this time we'll make teams. It's easier than finding yourself alone in an incomprehensible melee of 4 players. Like we did for Risk. :)
